Title: Graphene-based systems for enhanced energy storage

The objective of this activity is to select, manufacture, test and benchmark graphene-based energy storage components with enhanced energy and power density.

Due to their established unique properties, progress in synthesis and functionalization, graphene-based materials have shown great potential for energy storage and conversion. Classical energy storage systems like Li-ion batteries and more promising systems like Li-air batteries and Li-Sulphur batteries have been shown to perform remarkably better when graphene is introduced into the electrode design and manufacturing.

Pleione Energy S.A is responsible for the development and testing of a graphene based component for energy storage systems, as well as the commercial evaluation and the industrialization plan of the system.

Title: Graphene-based advanced polymers with high thermal and electrical conductivity

The objective of this activity is to develop, manufacture and test new polymeric materials doped with graphene in order to enhance their intrinsic electrical and thermal conductivity.

The doping of polymer with graphene to create composites is foreseen to increase the intrinsic polymer thermal and electrical conductivity property as well as its mechanical performance. Moreover, due to the very high value of graphene’s intrinsic properties, the enhancement of the polymer property after doping is foreseen to happen with very low fractions of graphene. In this respect, the production of graphene-doped polymer is expected to be achieved with almost no change in the existing production process.

Pleione Energy S.A is responsible for breadboard development and testing, industrial planning and commercial evaluation.
